Stacey Mortimer was born and raised in Dallas Center, Iowa. Stacey began her legal career in 1995 with the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, where she remained until 2002. While there, she established the Eastern Jackson County Domestic Violence Unit, prosecuting various serious felonies, including murders and violent assaults. Through her practice at the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Stacey was the recipient of the 1996 Warrant Officer of the Year award and recipient of the 1999 and 2000 Victim Champion of the Year award. Stacey is licensed to practice in Missouri. 

As Of Counsel with the Nash & Franciskato Law Firm, Stacey is the County Ordinance Prosecutor with the Jackson County, Missouri County Counselor's Office in Independence, Missouri. Stacey has distinguished herself through her work prosecuting various ordinance violations and handling miscellaneous firearms matters for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Stacey attended Iowa State University, graduating with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in 1991. She graduated law school in 1995 from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.  While in law school, Stacey served on the Board of Advocates. She received an award as a Top 10 Oralist in Moot Court competition, and was an ABA Regional Trial Team qualifier. Additionally, she received numerous awards for her trial skills, including the R. Jack Garrett and R. David Ray Trial Advocacy Award (1993-94 and 1994-95), and the Roscoe Anderson Award for Excellence in Moot Court (1994-95). Stacey was selected by the faculty into the Order of Barristers as a top student in trial advocacy.

Stacey is a resident of Lee's Summit, Missouri with her husband, Brian, and 4 children, Emily, Caroline, Claire and Scott. Brian is a partner with the Nash and Franciskato Law Firm. Brian and Stacey are active members in the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church, serving on the Children's Ministry Board and assisting the Church in various legal matters.
